10 Predictions for Winds of Winter & A Dream of Spring of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin
Since the 6th installment of A Song of Ice and Fire is nearing release, I'm going to post my long-overdue predictions for the last couple of books. I'll be backing up my predictions for some while most will be in snippets (simply because I don't know how to support them).
Other than Daenerys, who are the other 2 dragons? This is the biggest question of all. With Jon Snow dreaming of a flaming sword, a horde of Game of Thrones fans have fallen into thinking that Jon Snow might be Azor Ahai come again. As of this moment, it still is not clear who Azor Ahai will be or if there will be one. But these are some of my predictions:
Gendry will be the third dragon.
Danny has already dreamt at the house of the Undying about the coming of Aegon & the need of a third dragon in A Clash of Kings. There's no other logical thing to happen but Gendry. If Gendry is not to die, what else would be his role? The way George R.R. Martin has written about him, it's as if his future is forthcoming. Why spend so much energy on writing about his life if he is to die sooner anyway? What's the use of his bond with Arya if he doesn't have a role to play (if not like Podrick, God forbid)?
It is obvious that Gendry is naturally-born for a hammer. He will be like the comeback of Robert, a warrior with a warhammer, only brooding insead of laughing.
In the fifth book, Brienne has hinted on Gendry that he looked so much alike Renly who looked much alike Robert who was dearly loved by his people despite being a sot. Perhaps, Gendry will cross paths with Stoneheart. And because Catelyn Tully felt like she owed the Baratheons something (remember Renly's demise with Stannis' shadow?), she would help save the last of the Baratheons. There's still Edric Storm, another of Robert's bastard safe at Dragonstone but he's so much a weakling that there's nothing to root for him.
George R.R. Martin hinted on anything with a dragon blood might become a dragon i.e. Quentyn Martell's predicament with Viserion (only he roasted, instead of becoming a dragon). Quentyn believed that maybe his dragon blood will be awoken when he got near to the dragons or that the dragons won't hurt him since he got dragon blood in him. The Martells are descendants of a long line of the Targaryens (a princess of long ago married a Martell) so the potency of their dragon blood isn't that strong (well, save for Brown Ben Plumm). Meanwhile, Robert Baratheon's grandmother is a pure Targaryen. Gendry's dragon blood is only 3 generations away making him more potent.
Moreover, Gendry is used to fire. As a smith, fire is life for him. Besides, he is now with the company of the Red Priest, Thoros of Myr. The Red Priests servants of R'hllor are known for worshipping dragons. What better way of developing Gendry's destiny but be in the company of a sapient red priest?
Dany will be like Magellan who travelled around the world, except that she won't be the first as Euron beat her on that.
This one is pretty obvious: About what Quiate said to Danny in the 3rd book,
To go West, you must go east.
Of course, a planet will always be spherical in shape no matter what kind of world you live in. Danaerys has travelled way too far from the original route because she has such a soft heart that she wants to free the world from slavery. While her advisors think that she had made the wrong decisions in taking his ancestors' kingdom by going east, it was necessary. Euron the Crow-eye (a Kraken of Pike) has succeeded in going beyond Asshai in the East and back to Westeros in the West, going one way. Therefore, someday, Dany will go to Asshai and beyond and she would find herself back in Westeros in doing so (must be in book 7).
Proof that Asshai is just West of Westeros:
“The black wool cloak of a Sworn Brother of the Night’s Watch,” said the King-beyond-the-Wall.
“One day on a ranging we brought down a fine big elk. We were skinning it when the smell of blood drew a shadowcat out of its lair. I drove it off, but not before it shredded my cloak to ribbons. Do you see? Here, here, and here?” He chuckled.
“It shredded my arm and back as well, and I bled worse than the elk. My brothers feared I might die before they got me back to Maester Mullin at the Shadow Tower, so they carried me to a wildling village where we knew an old wisewoman did some healing. She was dead, as it happened, but her daughter saw to me. Cleaned my wounds, sewed me up, and fed me porridge and potions until I was strong enough to ride again. And she sewed up the rents in my cloak as well, with some scarlet silk from Asshai that her grandmother had pulled from the wreck of a cog washed up on the Frozen Shore. It was the greatest treasure she had, and her gift to me.”

Davos Seaworth will rescue Rickon at Skagos.
The last thing we knew about Davos Seaworth is that he made a deal with Lord Manderly that for him to take side with Stannis he is to retrieve his liege lord. And this is Davos' last thought:But there were other places in this world where men were known to break their fast on human flesh.
In A Feast for Crows, this is what had been said of Skagos:
Some songs said the Skaggs were cannibals; supposedly their warriors ate the hearts and livers of the men they slew. In ancient days, the Skagosi had sailed to the nearby isle of Skane, seized its women, slaughtered its men, and ate them on a pebbled beach in a feast that lasted for a fortnight. Skane remained unpeopled to this day.
If Bran's party went west towards where the three-eyed crow is, it is needless to say that Rickon and Osha went east as they originally planned to go to the Last Hearth, the Umbers' land. But even the Umbers were divided in 2 and with the death of Robb Stark, even Ramsay Bolton has taken refuge in their abode for winter. There's no other place for Rickon to go but beyond The Wall. Apart from Castle Black where Jon Snow reigned, the passages had already been scoured by Bran's party, leaving the Bay of Seals available if they want to go unnoticed by other Westerosi. Osha is a wildling so she might have taken Rickon with her into the wild. And what other place to go but Skagos? As to how they were able to cross the bay, that is still yet to be known.
I actually don't fear for Rickon. Even his direwolf Shaggydog is a bit savage. We could remember from the first book that it has torn a flesh from Mikken's thigh. Besides, Shaggydog takes from his wild master, Rickon. They would fit well in Skagos. Perhaps, Rickon has enhanced his skinchanging ability there, though the baby that he is.
Having left off with Daenarys being found by Khal Jhaqo in the Dothraki sea in A Dance with Dragons, Daenarys would go back to Meereen with a Khalasar at her back.
It might be that Khal Jhaqo has hundreds of thousands of horse warriors which are more than enough to defeat her slaver enemies.Tyrion will reunite all dragons.
I just don't know how.Dragons old and young, true and false, bright and dark. And you. A small man with a big shadow, snarling in the midst of all.
-A Dance with Dragons
With Daenarys and her Unsullied and her Khalasars, with Tyrion and Brown Ben Plumm's free company, with his obssession of dragons, Tyrion will convince Daenarys to go to Asshai. Tyrion will be talking about a farce with a red god R’hllor and the role of dragons, and Daenarys will remember her conversations with Quaithe. Thus, she will be convinced that the only way for her to see the truth would be to go to Asshai. There, she will be taught more magic and her potency as the queen of dragons will be stronger. Tyrion will have no idea why they'd go east instead of west where he hope Daenarys would back Aegon up but he will find himself curious and excited as to what's in store for them going east.
Tyrion will have no problem in securing his place beside the Queen of Dragon when he is to meet Daenarys for the first time. By then, Daenarys would have remembered Quaithe's words. She'd remember this:
No. Hear me, Daenerys Targaryen. The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer’s dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal.
Like before, she'd be equally as confused if Tyrion were to reveal himself to be a Lannister. Lions were supposed to be loosed at the opening of the pits, it was that time where Drogo unleashed himself and feasted on both Barsena and the boar and wreaked havoc in what was supposed to be a peaceful pact in Meereen. Eitherway, they'll be on their way to Asshai soon.
Jon Snow cheated death
The author has already expressed that Jon Snow's POV will be returning for the next book. As to how he's spared from death, I could only think of 3 things: -Ghost rescued him-Bran saved him by skinchanging into the giant Wun-wun or the crows
-Jon Snow himself changed skin into Wunwun or Ghost
With Jon's demise, Bran will try harder to learn the secrets of going into trees and skinchanging into a horde of crows at once so he could do some swarming (like how bees attack).
Or better yet, Melisandre will revive him after his death much like what Thoros of Myr did with Beric Dondallion.
Jaime will join with Stoneheart & Brienne
(I just don't have a clue what's going to happen then)Arya will become a full-fledged Faceless 'Man' except that she will flee from Bravos to go back to Westeros.
She will become a notorious assassin by day and prowling in the riverlands as a direwolf at night with hundreds of wolves behind her. Someday, she will be reunited with Gendry.Cersei will pave way for Aegon.
The coming of the next Aegon Targaryen might have been already foretold in A Clash of Kings but Young Griff doesn't have my vote of confidence. I think that he will be safer with Tyrion Lannister around. In the epilogue of the 5th book, Jon Connington has already invaded Griffin's Roost. But they still don't have their elephants with them and Aegon doesn't have his dragon. Well, he doesn't have a dragon in the first place.By then, Cersei Lannister has already fallen with Tommen in the hands of the Iron Throne's council. She might find herself in her own exile back to Casterly Rock, away from Tommen, alone and feeling defenseless with his late uncle Kevan's absence. She'd hear of the coming of this 'fake' Targaryen. And the time will come when she'd see Aegon for the first time. She'd remember how it was to fall in love with Raeghar's spell. Either 2 of the things will happen: she'll help Aegon win the throne with Casterly Rock's bannermen behind her back or she'd secure Tommen's claim of the throne. I vote for the former simply because Cersei has become mad due to a spurned love. It is time her change for good is towards a dragon.
There won't be a wedding between Harrold the Heir and Sansa Stark and not because Sansa is not yet a widow nor Robert Arryn isn't dead yet.
News might be a bit late in The Vale but the ravens will still arrive. All of the kingdoms will then hear of the coming of this 'fake' Targaryen and even Sansa isn't spared. Life has been hard on her. Why spare herself dreaming of marrying a handsome prince? And not just any prince but a dragon for that matter. Littlefinger better have better plans for Sansa.
It would be possible that Aegon Targaryen would meet Sansa Stark first before he could meet with his aunt Daenarys. And Aegon would be wondering as to how his father has started this war that annihilated his whole clan just so he take away Lyanna Stark for his own. For which Aegon is unfortunately wrong. Sansa might have the beauty that could compare with Lyanna but Arya Stark has Lyanna's spirit. Perhaps, Aegon might fall for Sansa's beauty.
There will be more trouble in the future if Aegon were to meet Arya. Arya might not have her sister's beauty but she has a compelling personality that Gendry has fallen for.
In the time yet to come, the dragons must have three heads. It is already a question as to who the other 2 dragons are. And it is a bigger question still as to who the prophesized hero of age would be, the Azor Ahai come again. Even Aegon Targaryen is still questionable to be the second dragon although he was already prophesized at the House of the Undying, but that was just the sad Rhaegar talking. Much a bigger question as to who the third dragon will be. Blood does not determine a dragon, we have seen that with Viserys.
I just find it fascinating in my head to think that not only will Aegon and Gendry compete for the dragon blood but also for Arya... and all just my wishful thinking. See how my predictions are all with happy endings? Yeah, I'm all for fairy tales.
The man had her brother’s hair, but he was taller, and his eyes were a dark indigo rather than lilac. “Aegon,” he said to a woman nursing a newborn babe in a great wooden bed.
“What better name for a king?”
“Will you make a song for him?” the woman asked.
“He has a song,” the man replied. “He is the prince that was promised, and his is the song of ice and fire.” He looked up when he said it and his eyes met Dany’s, and it seemed as if he saw her standing there beyond the door. “There must be one more,” he said, though whether he was speaking to her or the woman in the bed she could not say. “The dragon has three heads.”

Aegon targaryen
Jon snow
Tyrion lannister
Too bad, Shireen has been killed off by D & D on the fifth season. George R.R. Martin's condition to both the producers so they may produce the show was for them to be able to guess the ending of the series. So Shireen sure is off the list already. :(
DeleteYes tyrion. Because he is not tywins true son. There is evidence of an affair between Mad Aerys And joanna lannister. And aerys visited casterly rock the year tyrion was concieved.
ReplyDeleteTywins last words were " you are not my son" literally.
Tyrion has one green eye and one black one. Green from lannister mother black from where? His hair is pale blond mixed with black and he was born deformed which suggests that his mother was under a huge stress when she was pregnant and died birthing him. Plus he also had been plagued with dragon dreams like shireen.
